Calgary Real Estate- Builder Review

by Lavine Team on September 3, 2010

Give credit when credit is due!! It’s the poor experience that a friend of ours is having with one local builder that made me think about the great experience that we have had with a good local builder time and time again….

Nuvista Homes is a medium size builder that markets and builds in many of the popular subdivisions in Calgary. They built our home for us in 2005. We chose them as we had such a good experience with over 20 of our clients whom we have represented in the showhome and throughout the building process with  in various areas. Not one of our clients has had any serious issues with this builder and when little things come up…and they will come up with literally every builder… the true measure of a company is how they deal with those challenges and service in general. This company does whatever it takes to ensure a customer’s happiness and it’s no wonder they keep winning the Customer Service Excellence award every year. Although there was never a serious issue with any of the homes that we sold, we had one in our own home. It took a while to get to the bottom of it but they never turned their back on us. They kept on looking for a solution and even well beyond the warranty period. They finally did get things resolved and I’ll never forget their perseverence and genuine desire to please us. Too often you get to hear about bad stories with building we thought that we should write a favourable story about good things happening in this industry. Hats off to you!!

I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend Nuvista Homes to a client to build with them and are looking forward for the next opportunity for us to work with them. Remember it doesn’t cost you any more to have professional representation and the benefit of our experience with over a hundred new home sales but you have to have us come along with you for the very first visit. Unfortunately for our friend having the trouble they forgot that they could get our assistance and went in to the showhome on their own without us. Not much we can do to help out as the builder won’t allow us to represent you after the fact!!

It’s wonderful to hear that you have had such a positive experience. It should be noted that not all experiences end this way with NuVista. We have found the process to be stressful, the communication to be poor, the professionalism to be less than customer focussed and their interest in doing the right thing and satisfying this customer to be the last of their priorities.
Definitely won’t build with Nu Vista again.

Our clients have had a great experience with them… some of which have built again. Sorry to hear that your experience was stressful and that it left you with such a negative feeling about them. That is too bad….most good builders try to do the right things all of the time but in life it just happens that it doesn’t always work out that way. Hopefully you had professional representation from a Realtor that could have got involved to assist you along the way. We have been involved for our clients in a few situations with various builders and those same clients will attest to the notion that they will never buy from a builder without professional representation again!

I wanted to provide an update….. we are now 30 days away from possesion and things seemed to have picked up and turned around. We are hopeful that, even though we are 30 days past the original possesion date, Nu Vista will do what they can to make it right!
I MUST add that the representatives at the Evanston show home are wonderful and very accomodating as well as NuVista’s construction manager. A true professional! They are working hard at turning the experience back into a positive one. Stay tuned…..

That is good to hear Maria. That is how it worked out for us when we had our challenge…they never gave up trying to satisfy us. Our house was in Evanston as well….different showhome people then who’s there now but I believe the construction super might still be the same. Hang in there and please do keep us updated. We’d love to hear how it turned out for you!!

Well we have been in our BEAUTIFUL new home for 1 week today! If I could eat my first words off this page I would. The house is amazing….the team of people who picked things up and got them moving are fantastic. It’s unfourtunate that there was a blip in getting the house started because since, Nu Vista has shown themselves to be WORLD CLASS and have proven to be 100% deserving of the JD Power & Associcates awards they have won.
They are committed to ensuring everything about the house is 100% up to our satisfaction!
Would definitely build with NuVista again! They made everything right and MORE!

Glad to hear that it has worked out well for you. Sometimes a blip is necessary for a good companys’ policies and procedures such as Nuvista’s to engage. We had a similar experience with them and would definitely rebuild with them as would more than 20 homeowners that we have sold Nuvista homes to. All the best to you in your new home….I am sure that it is beautiful !!
